At some point, every iPhone owner will have to deal with a broken screen. Whether you dropped your phone or it took a spill in the toilet, a cracked screen is an all-too-common occurrence. And while Apple’s warranty does cover broken screens, the cost of replacing your screen at an Apple Store can be expensive—especially if you don’t have AppleCare+. Fortunately, there are a number of ways to replace your iPhone’s broken screen without spending a fortune. In this blog post, we’ll show you how to replace an iPhone LCD screen step-by-step.
What You’ll Need:
– A small Phillips head screwdriver
– A suction cup
– A pentalobe (five-point) screwdriver
– A spudger tool
– A pair of tweezers
-(optional) iFixit opening picks
-(optional) iOpener heating pad
-(optional) razor blade
1. Start by powering off your iPhone. If your screen is cracked, it’s best to avoid using your phone as much as possible to prevent further damage.
2. Next, use a suction cup to slightly lift the front panel of your iPhone away from the rear casing. Be careful not to completely remove the front panel, as there are still two cables connecting it to the motherboard.
3. Use a small Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the front panel in place. These screws are located at the bottom of your iPhone, on either side of the Lightning connector.
4. With the screws removed, you can now use a pentalobe screwdriver to remove the five screws that hold the LCD shield in place. These screws are located at the top of your iPhone, on either side of the earpiece speaker.
5. With the shield removed, you’ll now have access to the LCD screen. Gently disconnect the two cables that connect the LCD screen to the motherboard.
6. You can now remove the old LCD screen from your iPhone. Take care not to damage the new LCD screen when removing it from the packaging.
7. To install the new LCD screen, simply reverse the steps above. Start by connecting the two cables that connect the LCD screen to the motherboard.
8. Next, reattach the LCD shield with the five screws that you removed earlier.
9. Finally, reattach the front panel to the rear casing with the two screws that you removed at the beginning of this process.
And that’s it! You’ve now successfully replaced your iPhone’s LCD screen.
